# How do I connect to my VPS/RDP server?
After your server is deployed, you will receive an email with your IP address, username, and password. Here’s how to connect based on your server's operating system:
Connecting to a Windows VPS (RDP):
- Open the Remote Desktop Connection application on your Windows PC (you can find it by searching in the Start Menu).
- In the "Computer" field, enter the IP address of your VPS.
- Click "Connect".
- You will be prompted for credentials. Enter the username (usually "Administrator") and the password provided in your welcome email.
- You may see a certificate warning; it is safe to accept and continue. You will then see your server's desktop.
Connecting to a Linux VPS (SSH):
You will need an SSH client. Windows 10/11 has one built-in (PowerShell or Command Prompt). macOS and Linux have the "Terminal". PuTTY is also a popular free client for Windows.
- Open your terminal or SSH client.
- Type the following command, replacing
your_server_ipwith your server's IP address:ssh root@your_server_ip - The first time you connect, you may be asked to verify the host key. Type
yesand press Enter. - Enter the password provided in your welcome email. Note that you will not see the characters as you type. Press Enter when done. You will then be logged into your server's command line.
